Adherence of Traffic Networks to the ‘Third-Space’ of Urban Regions: ‘Riparianity’ Roadside Patterns

What does it mean to live in a territory made up of networks and circulations? This paper explores this old question in the context of the extreme outskirts of large metropolitan regions, where the car is dominant. Focusing on the instruments promoting adherence of the networks to this ‘third-space’ enables us to show how the riparian rodaside area participates in the livability of the territory, through individual practices whose stakes are, on the whole, collective.
