Promises and Impasses of Digital Architecture

Does the digital city exist either as a physical frame or an urban morphology? Can we find architectural feature which facilitates the development of a knowledge society or that constitutes the typical pattern of a digital city? The numeric technologies and the computer-aided design have brought architecture into the digital era. But they are mostly limited to a mean to design and formalise a project development process. In fact, the mutation of ICT has less impacted the design of building and the urban development so far than our day-to-day life. However, the digital architecture may end up in the design of building disconnected to their physical and social environment they must fit in.
